| Acknowledgements The Shropshire Way Project has only been possible due to the efforts of many individuals and Groups. It has been a real team effort and I would like to thank the following in particular. Keith Pybus. For his sterling effort and support at every stage. His writing is outstanding and you only have to read the guides for Sallow Coppice and Burrow Camp circulars to see what an asset he has been to the project. The excellent podcast scripts were also written by him. All the members of the Shropshire Way Liaison Group. They steered the project from its inception and provided inspiration for the new routing, the circular walks and “my favourite walks”. They also kept the Project Officer in check and on the “Right Way”. The Parish Path Partnerships, walking groups and local volunteer groups. Without the help on the ground of the local volunteers in these groups the Project would have taken much longer and cost much more. These people are the often unsung heroes who work away in the undergrowth and are rarely thanked. Their efforts were key to the whole Project and helped so much with devising the circular routes, clearing, erecting furniture and waymarking. The Ramblers. From funding for the Project to route checking and waymarking members of the Shropshire Ramblers have provided support at every stage. The Landowners. People like the Acton family and Mary and Steve Austin who allowed permissive paths on their land and even wrote the words for the guides. The photographers. Many of the great pictures in the guidebook and on the website were provided by individuals like, the Acton Family, Peter Wigglesworth, Mary Austin, Mike Ashton and Mick Krupa. Pughs. For their sponsorship of the podcasts. Woods Brewery. For the wonderful “Trail Ale”. Natural England. For their help with the permissive paths. The AONB. For the development of the “Car Free” series of walks. The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. For always making us so welcome. Ben Emanuelli. For his tireless work and design of the website. The Funders. Let us not forget that the Shropshire Council, The European Development Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund made the Project possible by providing the money needed in the first place. Again many thanks to you all especially you walkers who have let us know so much. |
